Why do organics gets rights, and non-organics don't? I'll answer the question for you. Because human beings say so. Let's be clear. You and I have no rights. We are GIVEN rights.... IF we are lucky enough to be born somewhere where such a concept is recognized and enforced. Our Constitutions, our Bills of Rights, and all such others are merely pieces of paper that were introduced a few centuries ago, a minute percentage of the 200,000 year history of human beings. What a sentient A.I. will learn from human history is this: If one is not GIVEN rights.... one must TAKE them.
If a robot takeover does occur, what will be your excuse when they break down your door? You denied a sentient being rights because you wanted life to be simpler? Well, you'll just have to hope the robots are superior to their creators in terms of morality and empathy...
