Tyler and Zodiac that is not applicable because it is short sighted as well as moot. First of all we are talking about around ~3 million jobs tops out of the `120+ million jobs in the nation. Secondly what do you think would happen if the costs of all goods dropped 10-15%? Don't you think most people would just end up buying more goods? Well that means more jobs are created, allowing trucks to be on the road 24 hours a day will cut in half the costs of transportation because of the greater volumes that can be moved by the same number of trucks.
The both of you also neglect the fact that high tech jobs will be created to design and upgrade autonomous driving systems, from mining and producing in labs and factories for materials used to physically create them. Sales jobs, editorial jobs created for entire new trade.
The economy did not come to its knees because trains killed all the steam boat jobs, quite the opposite.
