Failing to accept things as they really are seems more childish. People who want walkable cities, for example, might be naive and fighting a losing battle (like those who want ai to disappear), but at least they accept that it's inevitable that cars will continue to exist. And it's not necessarily a pro-car stance to say that cars are inevitable.
