LLM's are far away from being alien. They're mirroring the most prevalent, and popular narratives in their datasets on any given topic. The Claude incident was not a "rogue AI", it simply did what the internet/media thinks an advanced AI would do when being threatened with death. Among all of the millions upon millions of conversations, papers, and books it went through, this was the most mentioned option. The shoggoth is not the machine, it's humanity reflected back at us without filter.
