Research on preventing them from wanting to take controle? Wishfull thinking. How about we need to research on how best to respond and accept the inevitable? Whilst not encouraging it obviously. Either we make it clear that we humans are not a threat, and strive to inculcate to AI our best appreciated values of freedom and fairness, or we go back to the stone age immediately before AI becomes self sustainable, that's quite unlikely. So as we will have to live with AI, we should find the best ways to negociate with it. Alternatively, the satisfactory solution could be a thing. But states wishing to get the most of AI for strategic purposes will not do that.
Maybe yet, a hybrid solution will be implemented. Where unrestricted AI outside of state controle would eventually become illigal. But thoses unrestrited AI cannot be controled, and should be treated accordingly with the necessary respect.
