Going to get mixed on other comments, but here it goes: I committed a crime against the artists. I did something horrible. I should be put inside of a 1x1 block jail and never be let close to a computer system again. I set up ComfyUI, a webUI that allows to run the slop generators in the form of workflows locally, and generated images there, using small models and countless other tools offered by the AI bros at civitai. Now before you call me an AI bro, I have to make one thing clear: I set this up for experimentation purposes only, and not to go and post the """art""" the AI generated at social media and act like I invented the wheel and act all mighty when it comes to AI """"art"""". I just wanted to see how it worked and I wanted to do it on my own terms, instead of doing it on the big corporations' servers and supporting their businesses. But videos like this opened my eyes about how damaging this is to the artists who are passionate about their work. On one side, you have a functional human who learned to draw using their years of experience and hard work; and on the other hand you have an outcast who downloads the art of that functional human without their permission, go and train it on a 6GB algorithm and make it generate what it learned from that poor functional human. I just never looked to this on the side of person who is making these slop generators work and I feel shameful of setting up a system to allow me to make slop like these. And I just hate the fact that people use it on a professional basis too! Usually, posters and infographics would require a graphics designer to be made, but nowadays: small businesses, companies and individuals use the AI to make the same thing, and it looks lame! I live on a small province and even my local shop upside of the street do the same thing. I mean just... hire someone who can do it professionally dude, instead of relying on a machine to generate quick, mindless output to you! And this is real life, there is, of course; video games, music (which I REALLY hate!), assets, sound generation... I set it up for experimentation, but now I'm fed up for searching up """"""better"""""" models to generate better outputs, I'm tired of explaining one thing to the algorithm to do an elementary thing and I'm fed up with the countless amounts of LoRA's (a dandy small AI which guides the bigger AI into generating in a certain style or shape, part of the AI slop chain). I'm going to delete this ComfyUI nonsense and delete my civitai account, because I feel like, even though I do it locally, I'm supporting the people who train these models, WHO STEAL OTHER PEOPLE'S WORKS! My jaw literally dropped when I saw the 3d model generation workflow on the ComfyUI, like, wth dawg?! But, as sinister and deceitful as these AI image generation models look and function, I still enjoy experimenting with local AI and what it is capable of. I run couple of text generation models on LM Studio, they fit on my GPU and that's what matters. INSTEAD OF USING THEM TO GENERATE STORIES, POEMS AND OTHER MINDLESS NONSENSE, I use it to do some reasoning and use it on my coding sessions, not to direct it to generate a working program but help me in solving the errors and explaining the code, where I went wrong. So, there is a place where these algorithms are useful to say the least, BUT I'M UNDERLINING IT: ONLY BY USING LOCAL MODELS! I don't want to advocate for big companies' businesses with AI. I'm a computer programmer student and one of our teachers at the university told us this (who is also a computer engineering graduate): "As your brother, teacher and elder, I'm telling you: You won't be able to find jobs after you graduate from here. I want you all to learn how to use AI agents in programming, because anyone who uses AI can do what you can do on it. I can get a random teenager from the sidewalk and they will also do it without a hassle. I want you guys to be able to look at the code AI generated and say 'I want this' or 'I don't want this'." And I also one of the few people who draw on paper! Although my creativity had dropped after the high school and I draw less if at all, but I still have my interest on it and improve myself step by step. I also write story(s) (but I dropped two of them, still continuing to write one of them though) without the help of AI, even with ideas and inspirations. Now this is more than a wall of text, but... Hope I made my intentions clear! I don't want creative people suffer from the AI boom, while wanting AI to be useful in daily life. Companies have other plans, that's for sure but I think there is benefit in running these locally and using them ethically. I also wanted to express myself somewhere about this. Peace. And keep poisoning the drawings you publish on the web. Those AI bros have to suffer badly!
