I am disappointed & only started learning to draw when I became too sick to work, attend college, or even shop for groceries irl. Lots of people with disabilities make art because we can't do anything else. AI is not only stealing through the work of disabled artists, but making it so we have fewer opportunities to work. The majority disabled community is already unemployed! How dare anyone say AI 'art' is helping our community.
If you read biographies of artists & writers, you'll find many are disabled or were disabled as children. Lots of us have to depend on our imaginations to make life worth living.
Frida Khalo is my fault for this reason. She also became an artist after a debilitating injury made her bed bound. She started by painting on her body cast with a mirror. Art is our lifeline even if we're not making money.
