"Rights" or "Obligations" are concepts enforced by states through collectively-agreed monopoly on violence, they do not magically follow from the fact that entities are intelligent or sentient.
This is why the debate over whether AI "deserves" rights is the wrong conversation.
The urgent question is: what happens to human governance when the governed entities can no longer be coerced, even with wide-scale cooperation? We have months, not years, to answer that.
