It’s so frustrating talking to my parents about this because they are fully convinced the social credit system is exactly like it was portrayed during the initial media freakout. Then when I explain what it actually is or point out how actual Chinese people very clearly don’t know about it, they just say that of course the Chinese government would want to hide the truth and then parrot the same points about security cameras and facial recognition. My dad even self identifies as a socialist and has totally fallen for the propaganda.
