Someone invariably says AI isn't anything other than a word-predictor. I've never worried that AI would become conscious and/or agential. Now I am. I am worried about an exclusive group of powerful people misusing it.
But as far as concerns about "what will people do when AI takes over everyone's jobs?". I say....outlaw private equity from nursing homes and further regulate its intrusion into the housing market, tech titans should find UBI People will use UBI to improve their lot in life. They will eat better, they will worry less. Children will be safer. What would it look like for people to have generous family leave. People could afford to make choices based on their interests and talents instead of out of desperation. The arts, guilds, and craftsmanship could make a comeback.
