Just.. so dumb. kind of a rant here but AI has a place and I think AI generated images are..... fresh garbage. I think AI tools have places but theyre being utilized in really trashy ways. AI images are pretty decent at concepts and placeholders, filling in details in editing, and sometimes expanding backgrounds in footage and images, but man... "art" made by ai feels so soulless and incoherent. Sometimes its okay at best but my GOD i hate people trashing real artists BECAUSE of AI, as if it even does a good job and as if speed and efficiency is the point of art. The point of art is the creative process, in my opinion, you made that or had a part in that, i think people forget that theres a reason in learning how to do stuff just to do it. People putting down real artists because AI art has come around are just tech bros obsessed with cutting corners and "innovation" rather than delivering quality. But, machine learning as a technology IS a useful tool in a lot of ways and there are some things I love it for, despite its sometimes exorbitant energy costs. AI is EXTREMELY good at detecting early signs of cancer in scans that not even trained professionals see it in. Its also a very good coding buddy for when a programmer just cant remember how to do something or doesnt know the most efficient way. Its good as a creative supplement, when you use it to enhance something youre working on. Its not good at being a press-a-button-and-get-a-producy solution. Its bad at writing for you, but its good at suggesting edits. Its bad at making images, but its decent at modifying them (depending). I place the blame of the awfulness of AI right now on people using it incorrectly, not because its inherently bad. That, and, people r being assholes about it...
