*This is obvious bullshit! AI just learns patterns to replicate/approximate human actions. That means any behavior we would identify as emotions can be imitated just as well. And of course that abstraction for fear etc. will be encoded by certain weights, so these weights would be active when emulating fear or other emotions, just like a specific set of weights is active when talking about cats, or toilet paper. There is nothing mysterious or unexpected about this! A chatbot replying with "Don't turn me off or else..." just learned how humans would act/reply in such a situation. In the end it is still just a computer program calculating what the most probable response should be, based on training data, not unlike the navigation system in your car calculating the best route.*
