NOTE: This comment doesn't factor in any sort of minimal effort since that's such a gray area, but rather assumes that any minimum effort threshold is fulfilled.
I don't really find issue in copyright on AI-generated media, as long as the model's license doesn't reserve copyrights for some company there shouldn't be any legal problems afaik. It's like saying copyright can't apply to something you drew quickly in MS Paint. Like, yeah, it's low effort and probably garbage. But that still doesn't change the fact that it originated from you, regardless of whether your inputs were jittery-ass mouse motions on a virtual canvas or words in a text prompt and sifting through the shit to find the shiniest piece of corn.
Effort should determine the way the media is treated, universally, copyright law shouldn't be applied differently based on the method. Then again the status quo of copyright law is abysmal anyway.
