I think it is generally right to compare ai art to humans taking inspiration, but the "in the style of" loophole really seems to violate that. I think, when you do that, you're basically asking the ai to narrow its image selection to just the art of person x, so the art that gets posted becomes a violation of person x's property.
So, fundamentally, I think, the extent to which anyone owns the result of an ai generation is in proportion to how small the sample pool is.
If the pool is large and diffuse, it would seem no one owns it more than anyone else, but if small and narrow, it is someone's property.
