1. China overregulates in every field, so that they can easily put people into jail when they need it. It's still far from a Rule of law country. On top of that they have zero privacy to the online data.
2. The problem with money is that these top companies NEED to invest into AI to keep being alive. It is not profitable? Sure, but say if Google didn't invest into it, the top search engine would be Bing or chatgpt.
3. OpenAI use a money metric to measure its real world impact, but if you are familiar with Altman, he personally funded an UBI research, which, really needs to be talked about. The goal of AI is to automate every job, from white to blue collar, and if we have the technology, it will be the current capitalism society that is outdated, instead of the technology being wrong.
