I think AI Art is great, I think it's fantastic that thousands if not millions of people can now have a fair shot at portraying the ideas in their mind without spending years of study (years you dont get back mind you) and/or large sums of cash for education. Artists reading this, try to remember the imaginative ideas you had as a child, ones that you tried to portray but you were limited both by the tools you had available (crayons, printer paper etc) as well as your limited motor skills at that time; thats how non-artists feel when they want to encapsulate their vision, but lack the proper natural ability to portray what they wish to express through a visual medium. With AI art, these people don't have to spend potentially large sums of money for education, or invest large swaths of time into personal practice, they can instead finally have a real shot at showing off what *they* have to say. Do I encourage *solely* using AI art? No, I think relying on it your whole life would be a crutch, but like a crutch, I wouldn't judge someone with crutches if they either A. Are physically incapable of getting better, or B. Are only using this as an assistance to walk on their own. In this example, I dont judge the use of AI art when trying to find a proper reference image or inspiration; I *will* judge however if said person did nothing to alter said AI art to make it their own, or otherwise used the AI art as the finished piece and not the starting point that it should be. Tl;dr AI art is great for beginner artists, or those with no natural artistic talent that wish to express their ideas. But don't rely solely on it, if you can.
