I mean, if you went on the front page of deviant art and used that to claim human art generally is ugly, it would be obviously silly no? Yeah it's AI, but it's not advanced enough to look good on its own so AI art looks good in the hands of some people right now.
Not saying conceptually that AI art always requires skilled users, but there is a significant gap between the quality of a bad AI prompter vs a good AI prompter. the ramifications of it ethically are just a different topic.
Some is ugly, some isn't, some is subjectively interesting. I think 60s era floral patterns on muted backgrounds is atrociously ugly, but obviously it appeals to some people out there.
