You nailed it. AI is just another tool to help you do your job. The issue is that for those who use it like it's their senior, of course when it gives bad results those people don't know that it's wrong or a bad solution. For me I use it as if it's my junior - I'll get it to do a task that will take me time but I know exactly what I want. If it doesn't do it totally right the first time, I'll tell it what to fix. It will do a better job and faster than if I gave it to a real junior. I did lose time by writing the prompt, but overall I gained a small amount of time than if I had done it myself. That said, I don't actually prompt AI for things often - for me the best use is when its integrated in your IDE and it gives you 1-3 lines of autocomplete as you type, better than what your IDE could suggest on its own. You save a few seconds each time, but multiplied by hundreds of times per day it adds up fast, even if the suggestions are only 90-95% accurate. It's about accumulating lots of small wins.
