AI should have been 'phased' in. The manic rush we are experiencing today is like lemmings racing for the cliff.
People. Sam Altman, in particular, is a fraud. His lies and his race for power and massive wealth is disgustingly obvious.
Elon Musk is a unique individual. His objectives may be 'fairly genuine.' The link with Cars and Robots requires AI.
As for the future. Look at how high unemployment in the UK works out. People, especially men, get bored very quickly.
So now imagine tens of thousands of men with no job, no responsibilities, no objectives. How will that work out?
Now imagine the same situation all over the world. Millions of bored, aimless men with nothing but time on their hands.
CHAOS... At best. Criminality, Social unrest and possibly much, much worse.
