There was and is no need for robots nor is there a need for AI. Those that are in charge haven't come to the realization that all they are trying to accomplish with their creations. Is to outdo THE SUPREME CREATOR aka THE ALMIGHTY GOD. But human creation pales in comparison and it always will. There isn't and wasn't anything wrong with the original system. But this artificial system will be the downfall of man and mankind. This world would've been peaceful if people were humble and never had an ego trip and never been hellbent on world domination.
