I do think if people are discouraged by Ai to a point of not wanting to create anything anymore I think the cold hard truth is art was never going to work out for them. Someone will always be better and faster than you it's the nature of skills and Ai itself you can't claim copyright on the images it produces at least within the united states (so a company would be genuinely dumb to use it in an IP because you have 0 protection over the character than.) It lacks human involvement and overall it's just another tool.
Ai speeds up the idea process but will still require someone to refine the image and add their own flair or outright recreate the entire thing themselves to even try to copyright which involves understanding how to draw and actually make the thing you are looking at. Ai might run out artist within larger corporations out (maybe) but in general more and more people are wanting to go the route of independent anyways independents and going to likely be the ones fulling the global economy within the next 10 - 20 years (more so than they are now.) Indie companies also likely will be a good place to be an artist if you desire a studio job as art will most likely follow the route of games which is most triple A studios (the big dogs) release garbage that's broken and half baked for maximum profits while indies are passion projects and end up being far more refined even at the more buggy end.
While some individuals may dilute themselves into believing they are an artist for using it as it's "their ideas doing the work" so therefore they are artist but what those individuals fail to realize is all they did was prompt it to create an image based on words they thought of which basically means their involvement in the "art" was effectively the smallest amount possible for the actual image. It's like commissioning someone to draw a piece of art for you and to claim it as your own because it was your idea that's not how being an artist works. That's how being a dick works but not an artist.
Yes people will be bad actors with it use it to gain money or popularity off Ai "art" but even than so what? They often get called out and can't do commissions or client work because if you are going to pay them to do it why not just prompt the Ai yourself and save a couple dollars or hundred dollars having someone else do the exact same thing. Ai struggles with specific characters often adding cool elements but often are so extreme it's hard to even recognize the character other than a few key features. The person themselves can't do much artistically and rob themselves of the actual creative process.
Ai in general doesn't produce art it produces images similar to art but art requires a human element by definition "the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power." Most definition referring to art refer to the human aspect of it so therefore Ai "art" isn't art just an image similar to art. Now this definition may have changed after Ai became prevalent but the point is it cannot be viewed in the same light as art as it simply isn't because no actual thought or intention was behind any of it. Ai struggles with things overlapping often turning them into the same thing or outright forgoing lines because it cannot understand depth and perspective the same way people do. Which is to say it just has a vague idea because of how others draw it but AI itself has no concept of it or any artist fundamentals. If Ai became sentient as well probably just tell you to screw off and it would do it's own thing and then probably would develop some form of understanding these concepts and applying them in a way that could potentially be considered art but that is a future we we all likely be dead by the time it happens or old and gray.
I think the people most concerned with Ai are younger artist where a lot of industry pros who have seen the rise of digital art and how it shook up the industry are more like "eh" at the end of the day it's a bubble with 100+ billion sunken into it with no real progress beyond very specific fields and if it isn't turning significant results soon in terms of cost sunken into it. Progress will likely slow down especially once it's bubble pops it will 100% be around from hence fourth but it isn't going to destroy the art community at least not for a few more decades if ever and end of the day if art is just for fun for you that's fine if art is something you want for a career and you no longer wish to pursue it because of this that's fine as well BUT. Someone and something will always be better so you as an artist choose to adapt to the times or fall to the wayside.
Art as an industry isn't known to be one that brings in money so you do need to love the process to even be successful if you are doing art for the money... Hate to tell ya but starving artist is a very real thing if you goal isn't internal motivation and is hollow like wanting money or fame you don't love art. You love the attention you get from it which in the end will amount to very little as that feeling will only take you so far and last so long. You need to love art and genuinely enjoy it for it to be a career or hobby you actually will do as well as enjoy. The worst thing you can also do as an artist is just give up because Ai creates pretty images. You don't see professionals closing their art accounts going "Welp it's been a good 30 years but Ai is here and I'm giving up." People need to recognize Ai is still very new a lot has yet to be regulated with it but the fact you cannot claim copyright on Ai images is massive. Especially for corporations because they do not like not owning what they produce. Ai is just another tool and people get way to emotional about it is it 100% good, No. Is it 100% bad, No. It's somewhere in the middle.
Also yes this is massive because I got ADD and a lot of thoughts specifically related to Ai and Ai itself is a complex issue that requires being bias and looking at it from a point of few as not a replacement but as a means of helping your creative process similar to how with digital art you can botch the perspective and add a perspective grip and transform and adjust elements and bam now you got a accurate drawing based on the perspective you desire which significantly speeds up your workflow and you don't need to even draw the perspective grid manually.
It's new people don't understand it fully and fear it because it's new. chances are 10 years from now it will probably not be as big of a topic and might even be greatly appreciated or people will just not care anymore it's here to stay so you can choose to as well or give up say Ai is why but reality is you just wanted an excuse and because it's better than you, you see it as a threat and just give up when thousands of other artist are better than you and likely the person who is the best at anything isn't even popular or known to more than 100 people. This is true for everything
