Anyone defending AI are just making excuses to be lazy and steal. I rarely say something so harsh, but thats exactly what's happening. AI generated images violates copyrights, and takes no effort, no knowledge, no work.
I thoroughly believe anyone who says "you need to adapt to "reality"" are just people who want to be lazy and steal from actual artists. Anyone who says "stop being sensitive" is just trying to make excuses to break the law and steal, without learning how to create.
And saying "we hold all the cards, and we can do whatever we want. An artist has no right to speak to gods.", and actively celebrating the downfall of artists in various fields proves it. They know what they're doing is wrong. They just want to get away with it on some sick power trip.
Edit: and NO, ai is not the same as a *camera*. Stop comparing the two. Also, Morality ≠ Law. Just because something is legally allowed doesn't mean it's the right thing to do.
Edit 2: NO, ai does NOT make things from "scratch". Generated images come from a data set made of stolen and copyrighted works, and many creators within the professional field and industry (including Sam), have spoken out about it. Quit whining that you can't get your way.
Edit 3: I honestly don't care if it saves you "time". This is why the major companies are falling behind. They keep prioritizing quantity over quality, which isn't how you keep a business running.
Exactly why AAA game studios are falling behind, and Disney is falling behind as well.
Cheap, lazy, fast, shortcuts WILL make your products and company worse.
Edit 4: Stealing: the action or offense of taking another person's property without permission or legal right and without intending to return it; theft.
Theft: the action or crime of stealing.
Edit 5: So what I'm seeing here in the replies is that all the arguments boil down to "I want it now!!", "I don't want to actually do it myself", and "Everything on the internet is mine to take! Why should people get paid for their literal job?!"
If your argument boils down to that, don't even bother commenting. You're gonna make yourself look incredibly entitled.
Edit 6: Does everyone here hate artists with a burning passion or??? I swear some y'all are LIVID that I want a job in the future LMAO
Edit 7: Arguments are starting to repeat. I will not argue anymore, as I don't want to repeat things I've previously said. Read all my comments, and if you still disagree, LEAVE. I've made my point. The law is NOT a suggestion, and Copyrights/Patents/Trademarks are very reasonable for someone to have to protect their creative works. You're not entitled to other people's things, regardless of how much you want it.
Let it go.
Edit 8: This is a bit late, but I'm also adding one more thing. If you don't know how Copyrights, Trademarks, Patents, and Trade secrets work, I highly recommend this video made by an attorney: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUo4G1lw-w8&list=WL&index=6
(Now ya'll can stop telling me "cOpYrIghT iSnT fOr ThE cOmmOn MAn iTs uNetHicAl.")
Edit 9: I really don't think recognizing patterns in the arguments people make and pulling a reasonable conclusion is "presumptuous".
That's how pattern recognition and intuition works actually.
I'm not sure why anything I said was "presumptuous" when I was pulling my conclusion from multiple experiences and people. "Presumptuous" would be making a conclusion based on absolutely nothing before hand.
I was slightly presumptuous in one of my comments, assuming someone couldn't draw, considering that's the main motivation 99% when someone generates an image. His excuse was rather profit instead, despite the fact he could draw, and refused to consider changing his TOS lest he "disappoint customers" that don't value his ACTUAL work anyway. That was an assumption, and I was too quick to make it, and I do admit that mistake.
However, he was still making excuses to not let AI go, and focus on more ethical business practices.
