Luddite IS the correct word: They were NOT technophobes, but fighting against the replacement of skilled workers and trades with cheap, exploited labour. A good mirror for what is happening with AI art/text/etc right now
Look at the Red List of lost professions, that represent skills that have been forever lost, or that are in process of being lost (even with modern machinery). Of which the luddites were fighting for some.
