I just finished the first season of the podcast A Better Paradise, and it delved into a lot of what these two were talking about here. Of course, certain elements of the story were embellished because it was fiction, but the show's commentary about AI, government regulation and Tech Imperialism drew a striking resemblance to what we might be dealing with now.
If you ever get a chance, do check it out. It's an interesting listen.
