AI art like his should never be copyrightable. The only thing that will achieve is that large corporations will be generating and copyrighting as much as humanly possible.
However, there's a level of AI art which is far more involved than this. There IS the ability to use artistic talent to create a piece of AI art. Controlnet, ipadapters, regionmapping and all sorts of other tools give users a crazy amount of control over the generation, such as that the workload is shared between the AI and the artist.
Charlie is completely right that this guys process is just hitting enter. The ONLY part of that which is a creative process, is picking a few words that AI likes.
When using a more complicated workflow, I've built 3d scenes and models, rigged and textured them, sketched and drawn by hand and with photoshop, composited images and created scenes for perspective and layout - ALL before I even touch an AI.
Now, I'm not a fantastic artist. I'm a hobbyist and am capable of making decent models for video games given enough time. However I believe those things should be copyrightable, and if I chose to use AI to finish them off or transform them into something new, I think there's an argument to be made that the end AI output should be allowed copyrighted status.
