I am always amazed how much some people feel entitled to other peoples work/resources. If you are a carpenter and someone tells you "Hey i want expensive hardwood-floors in my house, so I demand you put weeks of works into it, but I want it for free"! ,People demanding such a thing would be called insane. But any mental, and by extention kreative "product" is aparently for the taking just like this? No matter how much work, time and materials went into this? I admit that AI Art is impressive in of itself, and I really enjoy some of the images, but this technology is very upseting. Like you said, Art has been around for thousands of years, and- in some form- has always existed as long as humans exist. Its there to tell a story, our story. Our creativity is one of the things that make us exclusively human. A thing that couldnt be rationalized and calculated... until now. Are we really ready as a species to outsource our whole human experience? For food to be grown in the lab, or fully automated, without ever letting ouf feet touching soil? Do we want to plant our kids in front of electronical devices to learn the wits of life, instead of running through the woods, collecting every stick and rock they can find? And will we forget how we once took our sticks and rocks and build a "House" out of it? Will we unlearn to be amazed what our minds and hands and voices can do with the things around us? Will we outsource art as something that can be "convieniently automated"? To me, my art is something thats very essential to my whole personality. It is a part of who I am. Sculpting and painting are one of the few things that make me really happy in life. That take me out of my darkest thoughts. When I create Art its almost something spiritual. A special connection to oneself that noone can take away. So i just can imagine how gutting it must be to have this very personal thing been taken from you. I really really hope there is something done about this eventually. Thank you for raising awareness.
