The “born with talent” stuff just fully pisses me off
All talents are acquired traits, it has very little to do with your hereditary traits
Really the only factor (that I can currently think of) that has something to do with that, is just how the brain is formed
Not with the talent itself, but rather the ability to learn certain things at a faster rate than some others, or observing things in a different way than most others, in which it would give a unique perspective, and may enhance creative ability
After that, it has a lot to do with environmental factors, people, and content that one is exposed to (such as living in an area that often has graffiti; it’s not the best example, but still a possible contributing factor)
Again, some people learn faster than others, or started learning and practicing earlier in their life, but that doesn’t mean they were “born” with it
There’s no genetic trait that would directly influence your ability to create art
“Blue blood” was a term used for royalty, as people believed they had blue blood because their veins were seen easier, as they claim to have married and reproduced with any other race, leading their skin to remain pale, and thus more noticeable
The veins APPEAR blue because of how light is absorbed when passing through one’s skin
There is a very clear difference in the way it is used here, and how it was primarily used when discussing royalty, or those of descent
One is associated with with familial relations among royalty
While the other is a petty analogy to get its harshness across to others
Artistic ability (or any skills or talents for that matter) is not something you’re just born with
It is developed, no matter what speed, or how many steps back one goes at some point
If you practice or learn by observation, you can continue to cultivate it
But you shouldn’t expect to be able to learn at as fast of a rate as you see others, and you especially shouldn’t put other people down for it
I don’t know what that person’s life is like, I don’t know how long they practiced, who might’ve criticized them and to what extent, or anything like that
So I can’t really give personal advice on that, but even if I did, I always tell people to not trust any of my “personal” advice, just the general pieces of advice that I’d give to anyone
I only really started trying to draw when I was in 6th, and if I had access to those first drawings now, I’d probably be a lot more confident in my drawing abilities now
I haven’t taken any art classes, and I’m mostly self-taught
I’ve taken down my videos on my channel, since the videos themselves were cringy, poorly made, and the art isn’t even close to my current style
I’ve never really been good at the creative aspects of things
But some of my strengths are my observational and analytical skills
I use that to improve
I look at my surroundings with more detail, look into the subtle details of how my friend and some popular artists on social media and their technique, I draw and erase while trying different methods to see what looks right to me
Again, I’ve never really taken an art class, so my advice is rather limited, might not work for everyone, or just isn’t the best way to go about things
If you have any items within your vicinity, you could try sketching out the basic shape, and adding more and more details as you go along, starting at the most evident details, moving down to the most precise ones if you want
If you have something like a box, you can use that to experiment with how different perspectives work
But NEVER say that somebody was “born” with talent
Because they weren’t
If they were disabled in some way, they had to learn how to adapt to those conditions
If they weren’t disabled, but are just slower learners or started late, they still continued to learn, no matter how long it took, and there’s always going to be something new to learn, so you never really stop at a specific point
You just stop where you’re comfortable, and if you want to keep learning, you can
Again, I don’t know this person, but I would assume that they’re a slow learner, somebody had criticized them in an overly harsh manner even though they’re just learning, or both
If someone might have criticized them that harshly, even though they’re were trying their best to learn, that person might have said things relating to what that commenter said
It could’ve been an artist, putting them down for not being as good as them, and probably saying something like “I’d rather have art made by AI rather than you” or saying something about it being pointless to learn how to make art if the person could just use AI
These are entirely just assumptions, but the biggest factor in my belief that somebody criticized them, was that they were repeating that artists “born with the artistic gift” were “mocking” those whom they believed to have a lower skill level
It’s possible that it was a close friend or loved one who said that, or a group of people, since having multiple people criticize you on something can lead you to doubt yourself
This is entirely under assumption, given information
It’s the way I personally see things, although it is subjective
Regardless of what that person might’ve been through, or how they were treated, it is still not a healthy way to handle it, CERTAINLY not a socially acceptable way either, and minimizes the work that people put into making their own art
I’ve been typing for probably at least an hour, as I have gotten far too passionate in this subject, so I’m just gonna post this and people can read the full thing I’d they want to, although I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to read all of it, as it is a larger body of text
