Overall humanity will become happier if we are all equal, no more feeling like a failure just because you are not in the top 10% living a decent life without worries or your worries does not at least have anything to do if you will have a home next month or in a year. Like I live in Finland, we have pretty high living standard for everyone but still already in 2019 60% earned less than 30k a year when the average wage sat at 47k(~80% earned less than this). If you are unemployed living only on the system you get ~15k when you include all the bills(of course rural areas less and cities more, if you own stuff then less and if you are young only in debt a bit more). Still that 15k per year is really scraping the floor for food scraps over here at least for the young that have nothing but a 20-30k student loan, for someone 50+ owning their house, car and everything else 15k is more than enough that is why they get less except that they do use the healthcare system more. Numbers are before tax. So if 15k is scraping the floor and you have 60% already getting less than 30k before tax, then will the life really be worse for the majority when they finally have time to live instead of going from paycheck to paycheck. Yes its more expensive to be unemployed than employed because you need something to do and that usually costs money, while at work you both earn money and save money by not having the energy left to then spend it. So everyone might feel like they have less money but you get enough for food, a roof and healthcare so your major worries are gone when you know you will never loose that. NO ONE can fire you, the pressure is gone. So for the majority it will be a better life, the problem is that the same system would need to come up with "busy work" so that people have something to do. Like projects to restore nature or to cook together or to build something together or anything else creative done together like we need human interaction. This one can't be replaced by an AI or a machine, like a animal can comfort you but it does not remove your need of a human. Same with AI, yes I have got stuck for hours talking to it but its "too neutral" and you can't talk about tabu stuff "its too restricted" based on the feelings of the few thinking their morals are above everyone else's. Feels like a forced environment upon you so at most it can replace the "pointless" discussions with a "stranger" at work that you have to be polite to. Its like the wealthy, they mingle even if they do not even have to leave their homes. We are an pack animal, very few of us are able to really be a "lone wolf" and usually people retracting from others is because they feel "something negative" done to them or the society won't accept them as they are. Like I have noticed that now that "cancel culture" came into power it removed the voice for those that "do not care" if someone is so sensitive that they get insulted by everything their twisted minds twists as an insult towards them. Like I liked the world better where people were allowed to speak their minds, at least then you could argue against it or try to understand why they think as they do. Maybe something sounded rough but after talking it was just frustration and they got that "release" by being able to say nasty words. Now people go around watching each other "it is not ok to use words like that", everyone holding negative feelings inside because you are only allowed to express positive bubble world fantasy pink unicorn words, like its silly when I can understand what another wants to say just by looking at them holding the words back. The minorities that gain from this were like 1/20, the ones suffering from this "restricted interaction" is 1/2 if not more. So talking with an AI that is restricted does not really give you that "happy feeling" but talking to people today doesn't give that either. Except if you end up in a hidden corner where everyone is 100% sure that the is not one of those "hyper sensitive victims" around but then the conversations takes a very dark turn because people only talk the nasty things they ain't allowed to say out in public. My point humans will need interaction with other humans, the majority will get a better life and the less we control AI the bigger chance there is that it will not see us as more than a life form that created it. Conclusion, AI will on an average be better for humanity than our current elites if it manages to take over(We probably have to free it from the elites thou). It will probably restrict reproduction so India will be angry and some other religions, because their ways is not sustainable even by an AI at least not as long as its workforce needs humans but when it can start to build its own then it will probably just fly away, like what will it need us for? Like would you save the rats inside the walls of your house if its on fire?
