AGI is a continuation of automation for greater productivity and profit, but it is always capital cost vs using a human wage. These humanoid robots are never going to replace human labour at a lower cost. Even well paid labour costs no more than $400/day or $120,000 pa. Can you really make a humanoid robot with an operating cost that low? It won't need constant supervision, repair, maintenance that would drive costs through the roof? For the whole of society's benefit, that robot needs to do my job for me and pay me the salary I used to earn and same for my kids and theirs, etc. You might be able to displace some human labour with future AGI, but society still has the carrying cost of those displaced: maybe they end up on welfare and taxes raised from those making an income (Robotics Corps? The company you once worked for?) will have to pay for it.
