"AI", or rather X to image generation is inevitable. It will almost certainly not maintain its current form, as people hate it, and it will be litigated out of existence. I do think it is a powerful creative tool, though. I expect it will become a way for artists to increase their output significantly. You can create 10 variations of NPCs and expand it to 500, for example. You can generate props and scenery, like ads and posters for world building.
The point that it's too expensive and unprofitable isn't fair for business cases. If I can hire 100 artists to make these things in a year, or I can pay the actual cost for AI tools and pay 30 artists to do it in 2 months, then the choice is obvious from a money standpoint. My RTX 3070 can run these things. It's only bleeding money because no layman is going to even pay for that GPU (also research isn't free). My dad's boss bought him a GPU on the spot when he said he wanted to play with AI, though.
Poison your art. I'm on your side. I just thought some arguments were not totally correct. My ideal is that these tools become as useful as photoshop. You need to know how to art, but it can help.
