Interesting story! I would throw just one twist on this. When you talk about how much energy "they" use, us comments should be hearing this is how much energy "we" use. These data centers exist to serve us. Before we all get doom and gloom about the scale of these, maybe read a book instead of watching youtube. Forgo some of that time spent on social media. Write your own email instead of using chatGPT. Or embrace the fact that we burn more energy than we every have. I find the growth needed in electricity generation equally interesting. Building enough generation for the electrify everything initiative and data center expansion is not trivial.
