He confuses mind, awareness, understanding, thinking, feeling, deciding, coding, conceptualizing with Consciousness. Chapter 12 of "Yoga Beyond the Thinking Mind" provides a clear answer to the discussion. And IF what is written there is correct – a modern restatement of a known and accepted viewpoint of ancient india – then AI is absolutely capable of sentience. Sentience is no guarantee of intelligence.
