Is this really the job we want to protect? Mindlessly drinving the same road, thousands of times? Spendsing too much time without human contact, sitting all day? Spending days away from your family? We need more people in important jobs. Education, innovation, social work. Things that machines cannot replace. You can't teach kids just with a computer, robots can't care for the elderly automatically. Drug addicts need counceling, a computer cant hold them reliable. We go into a future where the workforce gets smaller because of demographic shift. We need to automate jobs. And if we can get a future where a self driving truck is better the a human that has driven for 7 hours that day already, I am all for it. Near me there has been a huge brown coal industry. Back in the days they destroyed everything in their way to shovel coal. Villages, mountains, forests, everything. It got reduced to a minimum and now the huge area that was just dependent on coal was totally out of everything. But where there is a ton of tech savy people looking for jobs, companies move in and now there is a ton of light and heavy industry here. And after industry got automized there was a lot more chemical industry and just automated industry at bigger scale. Like yeah for a couple of years people get hit. Hard. But imagine where the world would stand if we said: We dont want robots to work factory jobs. We want every screw fixed by a human. That would be a wolrd stuck in the 50s.
