Towards the end, I wanted to punch a hole through my screen after you uncritically had crackpots on to spew nonsense about ai being like creating an alien intelligence on earth or being a probability crystal ball to predict the future. What we call ‘ai’ are number guessing machines. They inherently cannot ‘think’ nor are they a magic future predictor who will accurately predict reality if we merely feed it more data. This is laughable nonsense coming out of the mouths of frauds who stand to gain by propagating such absurd claims. Dear media: Stop irresponsibly gaslighting people about capabilities that so called ‘ai’ is inherently not remotely capable of nor ever will be. You are only feeding the bullsh*t train of the ai hype goldrush. Or maybe that is on purpose and this is you trying to split the difference for your investor cronies - reading the room about how the general public are beginning to realize ai is broken crap, while sticking your foot in the door on the phony magical-thinking ‘possibilities’ coming out of the mouths of more ai carnival barkers. All so you plant just enough wiggle room to fool and bullsh*t people with another hype cycle they aren’t ready for yet, or soften the blow of anti-ai backlash as people get mad at the power bills, lung poisoning, mass surveillance, deepfake scams, and other garbage this overpriced overhyped boondoggle big-tech scam has given us.
