No, bringing calculators into the classroom was not seen as cheating. I’m sick of this false equivocation between AI and calculators. The skill you learn in elementary school is literally “how to calculate” eg what the calculator does. That’s why it’s cheating in elementary school. The skill you learn in college is how to manipulate figures. That’s why a calculator isn’t cheating.
