But if AI replaces every employee, who is left to actually buy anything? If there aren't enough buyers in the market, companies will face shrinking margins and revenue. This creates a trap: companies are spending massive amounts of money to implement AI infrastructure, but without consumers, they will never generate enough value to pay back that debt or cover the interest.
Even if the US government tries to solve this by printing unlimited money for Universal Basic Income (UBI), that only fixes the domestic issue. What about other countries that hold US government bonds and dollars as central bank reserves? US allies would be furious seeing their holdings devalued. They would likely dump their US debt and stop trading with the US to stop their wealth from 'melting' away.
