I think Artificial Human Companions and Total Environments are great uses of AI. Although the latter could be better suited for real life.
And, humans basically act the same in that we take bits of everything we view, read, feel, taste and hear; everything we learn, and build something new by reassembling what already exists. Our dialect is shaped by what we're most exposed to in discourse.
As an aide: What if there was software so advanced in its scripting that it could make decisions based on emotion? At what point is something considered alive?
