This is the new "climate change will destroy humanity" line from the media. That apocalyptic line ran its course, now the media needs a new one to sell because fear and anger sell much more than anything else.
Whenever you see new tech and the people pushing it, you need to ask yourself, is this sales or technology? In the case of AI, it's about 50% of each.
There's a vested interest in AI creating this fear to drive hype, drive money into their coffers. There's a vested interest in media pushing this "end of the world" concept because it sells. And this man has a vested interest in being a whistleblower just in case things get too disruptive, he can still go around saying "I told you so" after he's already made his fortune.
AI will disrupt, just like the internet disrupted. It'll take about 3-5 years to get an idea of how much. Until then, maybe learn more about it, but not from this crap.
