I have ridden Waymo‘s quite a few times, I prefer them over other ridesharing services. Mostly because I am alone in the car. One of the reasons they are as successful as they are is that they undercut the price of other services. My guess is that this is an introductory price, used to generate awareness and keep the cars as full as possible. I wonder how much they will be charging once they are attempting to be profitable.
Also, Waymo doesn’t expect a tip.
