The AI rights reminds me of the "Boiling lobster" argument. Some people say lobsters don't feel pain but people cant disprove that, so wouldn't you want to kill the lobster before boiling it just in case you are wrong and spare it a horrible painful fate?. We can't see where consciousness begins so wouldn't we want to treat AI with respect before undoubtedly treating AI as a slave that never sleeps or eats.
