Parking can be extended underground and have some robot elevator that effortlessly takes your car from the street. But of course something like that to become main stream would likely take even longer than extension of public transport. But actually it would be easy to safely share Waymo. Just isolate all the seats with a barrier so that you don't even know who the other passengers are. They would also have to be going to the same direction so that the detour would be minimized. Anyways that's my initial thoughts about the matter.
