An effective way of using "clickbait" (as in a bogus statement about the AI being sentient) to draw attention to an important topic: how human bias and processes can influence cultures and how people think.
This guy, as an AI engineer, KNOWS –along with all AI engineers– that we're centuries away from sentient AI, if that's even achievable. But he's using the general public's hyped-up fear and sci-fi preconception as clickbait to inject the real message: he wants people to discuss the systematic biases and digital colonialism that is happening and how we can mitigate an issue that will only grow over time.
