During the comments about AI and human touch I rethought a thought I’ve had for awhile but could only put into words while watching this: art is living history, weather a piece was made a month ago or was made thousands of years ago they tell the history and story of not only the individual artist but overall the world they live in. A great example is an artist who I’ll add to this comment thread after I write it because I can’t remember her channel name but she’s currently in art school. She just made a piece that was her doing art in front of a storm behind her. She not only captures her own history through the handmade items around her or the pallet she got from school, but also describes the history of global warming within her state and how bizarre it can feel to still enjoy something during times of uncertainty. You could type keywords into an AI and revive an image with relatively the same composition but it won’t have the details that make it living history. AI derives from everything and everywhere meaning it can’t have history imbedded into it.
