AI is Artificial and as self aware as a rock. There is no one home. Once we made tools with rocks, fell in love with rocks, and now we taught rocks to talk to us but they are still rocks. Regardless AI is created by us molding rocks and it is a reflection of us and can be used by us for good or evil. The religious discussion here is rather basic lacking depth. However u think of our existence as simulation or not persons are real entities where AI are constructs that emulate entities. Humans have souls cause they are real and not a simulation of something. AI is a simulation. That said there are enormous problems created by AI and its ability to do so much at once including watch and control us. ISAAC asimov basic laws of robotics were his way of making AI safe. In some ways what we face is more complex, a super inteligence with no self awareness, governing morals or ethics but those of a psychopath. For reference Asimov's laws may be a good place to start: to quote: The first law is that a robot shall not harm a human, or by inaction allow a human to come to harm. The second law is that a robot shall obey any instruction given to it by a human, and the third law is that a robot shall avoid actions or situations that could cause it to come to harm itself.
