Prompt hacking is a very real thing, the way AI works, you can try to ensure that a certain behaviour, in this case, reproducing entire articles verbatim, is disallowed, but there can be tons of ways to word that request that will result in that action, and Open AI won't necessarily be able to think of them all. The correct thing to do would be if The New York Times manages to word a request to get it to do so, then report it to Open AI, and they'll add that one to their disallow list.
