Unfortunately, the extremely wealthy really only needed the rest of us to do all the work to provide them homes, food, cars, extravagances, and experiences. If AI and robotics can take the place of people in those regards, then we are no longer needed. The elite, wealthy, and powerful class will then use methods to scale down the population. Methods they will use will be warfare and pandemic is they need to eliminate large numbers. We need term limits. No lifetime terms! We need to shore up and protect the guardrails of democracy and permanently balance and define the balance of power between the three branches of government. Eliminate the loopholes! Regulate the executive order and pardon powers of the executive branch! Immunize the system against bias and an authoritarian takeover. If masses of people eventually get places on Universal Basic Income, which would basically be welfare, the elite class would see them as a useless drain and seek to eliminate that group. They will continue to look at us as an efficiency problem and make cuts, just as they would with their companies. We need to create a system that protects people against these future occurrences.
