Even if the problem is generally greater than AI, AI still played a role here, as without it, there wouldn’t be anything to blackmail him with.
Yeah, it sucks how artists might be replaced by AI, but the problem is bigger than that. It’s already hard to tell if some images are AI but it can still generally be detected. At some point, it will be impossible to tell if something is AI or not, and it can be used to seriously damage people, like this.
There’s usually a lot of nuance with stuff like the internet and mobile devices, and AI can be useful in some places, but I think the negatives far outweigh the positives. AI has just made people lazier and risks greater for stuff like this.
