One of the best pieces of advice I’ve been given is to “let yourself be a beginner”, that mindset has completely changed my outlook on how I view my art even as I’ve improved, it’s okay to mess up and it’s okay to make art that’s not perfect or technically correct or whatever! Art is about the process of creating, as long as you find enjoyment in the act of drawing itself, that’s what really matters! Honestly I really feel that a lot of these pro ai art arguments are really just showing an uglier side to how art is yet another thing that’s been monetized. I remind myself daily WHY I make art. It’s not to make money or to be the best. I make art because I love to tell stories and I want to relay messages of hope to the world and in doing so I hope it helps my audience in some way in what they’re going through and in turn changes the world for the better! I like to look at it as - I don’t make art to make money but money is just a result of my art.
