There are some science fiction stories that do talk about the painful things. For example Expanse talks about most people on Earth living on basic because there is nothing for them to do… no job they can do.
Books by Isaac Asimov and Michael Anderle talk about humans going out into space and spreading out across the galaxy and Earth getting destroyed due to nuclear weapons… which made me realize that if we ever find a way to live successfully on another planet in the solar system or another habitable exo planet the thin balance we have right now preventing nuclear war will completely disappear.
In fact Isaac Asimov’s books cover a lot of these issues that we have not yet faced. Robot wars…. Super intelligence… all of it.
