I hate that the discussion has become "we need to stand up for artists, #fuckai". This is not about artists really, it's about the feeling of having anything special at all.
I'm sure AI will be able to write at the same level as LotR or WoT in the future, but it will write 2 billion such books of the same quality too, and nothing will feel special anymore. Like halo 3 or the GoT tv show, everyone was playing/watching that cause it was special. That feeling I think will be lost in the future.
